Who are we?

by Donovan Joseph Crosby
(Mims, FL 32754)

I feel we are one, but I don't know you.

How do I find out who I, we are? Who do I ask the questions I have inside my head? It has to be a true Freemason I speak with; I don't want bull. I want to learn all our truths about everyone and everything.

I can handle this.

Information can only be obtained by asking the proper questions. No one has ever gotten the right answer without asking the right questions. Seek, and ye shall find, ask, and it will be answered, knock, and it shall be answered

There are certain requirements to become a Mason. You MUST be a man, free born, of good moral character, believe in the Supreme being, AND come to Masonry of your own volition. As for the door? The door of your local Masonic lodge is where you start. Go on a meeting night. They will either allow you in, or ask that you return on another specific night.

Where lies truth?
by: Tim

Hello Donovan,
and thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, the answers you seek, as I understand your question, can not be simply imparted one to another. Truth is not cold and unchanging fact. Truth evolves as we evolve. Those things we accept as true when we are children we realize were simple folly as we grow. Truth is tempered by experience, perspective and understanding. To accept an idea, belief, or teaching as true requires an agreement of the intellect and the soul; it must not only seem true but must feel true, as well.

Your search for truth is a worthy endeavor and I commend you on having the courage to pursue it. Freemasonry teaches that no man should engage in any great or important undertaking without first invoking the aid and blessing of Deity. That's always the best place to start. You would, no doubt, find those within Freemasonry who could be of benefit in your search, though not because they are Freemasons but because they share a similar path and interests.

You are welcome to ask your questions and we'll answer them as best we can, but do not be convinced that the truth you seek, your truth, can come easily or from without. Truth comes from within.

Fraternally,

Tim

You have been told what to do. Go to your local lodge and knock on the door on a meeting night, or call them. As masons we take oaths not to speak about masonry beyond certain points to people who are not part of the fraternity, and those oaths carry over to this forum. As you are not a mason, that initial step is to ask. You have done that, from this point on it is up to you to go after the knowledge you want. Go to a lodge. We do not recruit, so if you really want answers, follow the paths and instructions of those here. Find out about the lodge in your area, when they meet, and GO, talk to them
