My wife won't agree-but I still would like to join Freemasons

by Alexan24

I have tried everything to get my wife to support me in wanting to join Freemasons with no luck. I have had her speak to some members, she has researched it, and she still does not want me to join. I am keen to be a part of something so big and great. I love what the Masons stand for and all the people I know who are members are progressive good men.

I am tempted to join even if she does not agree, because this is something I want to be a part of. The question is, would I be able to join without her knowing or having her support? What else can i do?

I am a man that takes care of my family and I am a good husband and father.
Her dad and mother are big in the church and they have brain-washed her about the Masons. She says it is of the devil and the lodge brothers are not telling her the truth. I am frustrated and not sure what to do, as i do not want to lose my marriage but this is something I am very keen to be apart of.

Any advice would be great.

Part of your joining the fraternity will be an interview. A committee of at least 3 master masons will go to your home and speak with you, theybwill want your wife to be present. It is likely that if she is not in favor of yoyr joining, that the committee will return a negative report to the lodge. Family, and their support is part of the fraternity, our wives support is part of it.

Fred is qute correct.

Freemqsonry teaches that family comes first. That's our philosophy, but on a practical note (speaking as a husband), taking on something like this without the support of your spouse is a non-starter.

Perhaps she will change her mind in time. In any case, you seem to have your priorities straight and both good men and good lives can certainly exist outside the Craft.

Good luck, sir. God bless.
