Can a family member read the Master's Last Prayer at his funeral?

Our father was the Past Master of a Lodge in Germany while he was in the Army. When he came back to the states he retained his membership with that Lodge. He did not join another lodge in the US. Can a family member read The Master's Last Prayer at his funeral? Pamela

First off, sympathy for your loss.

As to your specific question, each jurisdiction has its own rules, it’s own procedures. My jurisdiction, for instance, does not use a ‘Master’s Last Prayer’.

His belonging to a lodge in Germany and not in the USA (where I presume the funeral will be held) makes it more complex if this is to be a Masonic funeral. Not trying to dodge, but I think that, if a lodge in the US is to be involved, the question should be addressed to them.

All that said, in the absence of any other info, having looked up the Prayer on the Net, I see no reason why a family member should not read it.

Again, my sympathy.
